Itinerary:

7:30 am:               Departure from office (91 Middle Street, Cummingsburg Georgetown)

8:30 am:               On arrival at Roden Rust we will join a boat, which takes you to the former Dutch Fort at Fort Island,                               which is approximately 16 km from the mouth of the mighty Essequibo River. Fort Island has two                                   remaining Dutch structures: Fort Zeelandia and the Court Policy. During the period of Dutch                                           occupation the Fort and the Court of Policy were part of a large urban settlement that extended along                             the northeastern section of the island. It was the seat of the Dutch administration in the colony of                                   Essequibo.

9:45 am:               Rejoin your boat and depart Fort Island. Continue on to Sloth Island Nature Resort. Sloth Island is                                   located opposite Bartica, on the right bank of the Essequibo River. It is 155 acres paradise and has                                 managed to keep its pristine rainforest intact. The forest is teeming with wildlife. Monkeys, sloths and                             more than 188 species of birds reside within the Sloth Island Nature Resort…. The Island is subject to                             two daily tides. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch and a short nature walk or paddling.

3:30 pm:              Depart Sloth Island and continue to the Bartica. Enjoy a short tour before continuing to Fort Kykoveral.                             We will stop and visit (depending on tides- at low tide we may not disembark). Learn about the rich                                 history of Guianas first Dutch Settlement. You will have an opportunity to take memorable photos.                                   Continue to Baracara where we enjoy the rest of the afternoon bathing under the freshing water.
